Patrick Mannerings has spent over 20 years working as a designer blacksmith, turning a lifelong love of making into a highly skilled craft. He first got into metalwork at 15 while working with a farrier, and quickly found himself drawn to the heat, tools and hands-on nature of the forge. Today, Patrick creates bespoke, award-winning metalwork that blends traditional blacksmithing with considered design — making pieces that are practical, beautiful and built with real care.
Based in Gosport, Hampshire, PM Forge & Metalworks creates work for homes, businesses and individual commissions throughout Hampshire, West Sussex and Dorset. From hand-forged gates and railings to architectural hardware, restoration, sculpture, welding and metal fabrication, each piece is made with the project and its surroundings in mind.
The metalwork here includes gates, railings, hardware and custom fabrication, all made to suit the space and purpose of the project. Traditional blacksmithing techniques are combined with modern fabrication and welding where needed, with every piece carefully finished and built to last.
Built to hold for decades
A commission typically moves through four stages: discussing the project and visiting the site where needed, developing the design, fabrication and finally fitting or installation.
Work ranges from functional ironwork and architectural hardware to sculptural pieces, memorials and large-scale gates. Whether it's a small hand-forged detail or a larger commission, every piece is individually made rather than taken from a standard range.
The aim is simple: to create well-made metalwork with character, combining traditional craftsmanship with a practical understanding of how each piece will be used. From the first conversation through to the finished work, each project is given the same care and attention to detail.
